buford_t_justice Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 I have just visited the following site which provides information regarding service intervals : http://www.etis.ford.com/fordservice/serviceScheduleForm.do and discover the following about cambelt intervals: TDI 04/2000- 05/2003 change cambelt, tensioner and idler every 40,000milesTDI 06/2003 - 03/2006 change cambelt every 60,000miles and the tensioner and idler every 120,000miles I don't believe it !!! Ford swore blind mine needed changing at 40,000miles and so I got the job done (at an independent to save money) and now it looks like I didn't need it at all!!!!!! Your comments appreciated. Quote
AndeeeH Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 Was yours built in Oct. '03 or registered then? It could have been built before 06/03. Andy. Quote

It was registered Oct'03. From the VIN plate I can see that it was manufactured in 2003 but how do I determine the month?? Quote

The date of manufacture is the same as the date of first registration. That's obviously not it. Quote
sparky Paul Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 try putting your reg mark in this baby: http://www.rac.co.uk/web/vehiclechecks/dvla_lookup/ I've tried putting a few registrations of my old cars into that site, it always returns 31 December YYYY as the manufacture date... Quote

Even better, it said my '72 MG Midget was manufactured 1 january 0001 !!!!!! Quote
adrianf. Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 It seems good old fraud dont know their arse from the elbow again. When i bought my 2002 TDI 50,000mls 6 months ago there was no record of the belt being done so i got them to do it as part of the deal. I didnt realise at the time being a novice with the Gal that the idler and tensioner should have been done as well ( i bet they didnt do it ) . I still havnt had it done 58,000mls and was wondering about the urgency in having it done. Quote

Check back on any receipts you have for work done or ask the dealer to produce a copy invoice for the work. Quote
